After a lot of pain, I reached out to my insurance and got connected with Simply Lactation because I was about to give up on my breast-feeding journey. I needed somebody urgently that day because I really didn’t want give up. Hilary answered the call and I was so thankful after the first visit. During the visit Hilary made me feel seen and validated on this breast-feeding journey. She was personable and warm, and after that visit made me feel confident in being able to feed my baby. She recommended a few items that I didn’t know I needed and let me tell you they’ve come in handy. I also appreciate that she provided a text summary after the visit so I can always go back to the notes. Hilary has also been very responsive to any text messages when I needed more guidance. Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during a lactation consultation?
Each session starts with a detailed discussion about your baby’s feeding history and your breastfeeding experience. Your consultant will observe a feeding, assess latch and positioning, check for tongue or lip ties, and create a personalized feeding plan with practical steps you can follow right away.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Yes! We accept Aetna, Cigna, BlueCross BlueShield, and United Healthcare, and most plans cover up to six visits with no out-of-pocket cost as part of preventive care. Virtual and in-home visits are typically included.
How soon can I get an appointment?
We offer next-day appointments in most cases. Once you fill out the form, our team verifies your insurance and schedules your session as soon as possible.
Do you offer in-home visits or virtual consultations?
Yes, both! You can book an in-home visit if you prefer hands-on guidance or a virtual consultation if you’d like support from the comfort of your home—especially ideal for new moms recovering postpartum.
Can you help with milk supply or pumping issues?
Absolutely. Our IBCLCs are experts in milk supply management, flange sizing, pumping schedules, and storage guidance. Many moms see improvement after just one visit.
My baby has a tongue tie. Can you help?
Yes. Our consultants are trained to identify and support tongue and lip tie concerns. We also coordinate care with pediatricians and dentists if a release procedure is needed, and provide post-procedure feeding guidance.
What if I’m a first-time mom and just need reassurance?
You’re not alone. Many moms book their first consultation just for peace of mind. We’ll walk you through best practices, check baby’s latch and feeding patterns, and answer all your questions—big or small.
Can you help if I’m combination feeding or exclusively pumping?
Yes! We support all feeding goals—exclusive breastfeeding, pumping, or formula supplementation. Our goal is to help you feel confident and informed in whatever feeding plan works best for your family.
Do you follow up after the visit?
Yes. You’ll receive a written care plan and ongoing follow-up via text or email to make sure you’re supported as things evolve.
How experienced are your consultants?
Our team includes board-certified IBCLCs and registered nurses with over 25 years of combined experience, who have supported more than 25,000 mothers in their breastfeeding journeys.
